Tenchi the Movie 2: The Daughter of Darkness, known in Japan as Tenchi Muyo! Midsummer's Eve (天地無用!真夏のイヴ, Tenchi Muyou! Manatsu no Ibu) is the second of three films set in the Tenchi Muyo! multiverse directed by Satoshi Kimura and written by Naoko Hasegawa. The film was released in Japan on August 2, 1997 as a double feature along with Slayers Great. The film was later released in North America on March 31, 1998.

The first anime released on Laserdisc by Pioneer LDC was vol. 1 of Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki (pictured). Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki for the PC-98 was the first Tenchi Muyo! video game. The last Tenchi Muyo! series that original composer Seikou Nagaoka worked on was Tenchi Universe in 1995. Ryoko's first appearance in anime was actually a single frame in episode 126 of Ranma ½.
